Full Synopsis
Set in the aftermath of the Sri Lankan Civil War, Sarathsiri, a single broody man in his mid-forties runs a pawn shop in a remote town. He falls for Selvi, a young lady who frequents his shop to pawn her trinkets. Sympathetic to her plight, he asks for her hand in marriage hoping to give her a better life. As the couple begin their wedded life, Selvi becomes curious about her husband’s unsettling past.
Adapted from the 1876 short story “A Gentle Creature” by Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevski, Oba Nathuwa Oba Ekka or With You, Without You is the seventh feature film by director Prasanna Vithanage, one of the pioneers of the third generation of Sri Lankan Cinema.
