Full Synopsis

Thana, a disenchanted middle-aged architect encounters an elephant on the streets of Bangkok that turns out to be his childhood companion, Pop Aye. Thana excitedly brings the elephant on a journey through rural Thailand to their hometown in the Loei province, in search of the farm where they grew up together – only to be confronted by a new reality.

Pop Aye is the first Singaporean feature film to compete at the Sundance Film Festival. It won a Special Jury Prize for Screenwriting in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section in 2017.
