Synopsis
Catching up over some makgeolli, friends Jo Moon-kyung and Bang Joong-sik—one a filmmaker and the other a poet—realise they had each made a recent trip to the same seaside at the same time and even befriended the same people, without ever crossing paths with one another. They swap stories on the condition they only stick to pleasant memories.

Unable to genuinely confront their feelings, the men bumble their way through with awkward chuckles, half-truths, and macho displays as they face the bolder and significantly more sincere women that they are involved with. Hahaha is a comedy of manners that foregrounds Hong Sang-soo as one of cinema’s foremost chroniclers of urban male fragility.
