Synopsis
When his wife Simin leaves him, Nader hires a young woman to take care of his ailing father. Little does he know that the new helper is not only pregnant, but is also working without the permission of her unstable husband. A heated confrontation yields unfortunate results as Nader finds himself at the nexus of escalating tensions—in both public and personal realms.
Although Asghar Farhadi was already a seasoned filmmaker with five feature films under his belt and a string of film festival accolades to boot, A Separation garnered him wide international acclaim. This film is considered one of the 21st century’s greatest cinematic masterpieces.
