Full Synopsis
In the city of Shiraz, Rahim, a mild-mannered calligrapher is in prison for an unpaid debt. While on a two-day leave, his lover presents him a bag of gold coins that she found on a bus. However, when the coins prove insufficient to his creditor, his mounting desperation to clear his name and secure his release unwittingly thrusts him into the limelight as he is caught in a confounding web of fame, deceit and moral ambiguity.
In the age of social media, Asghar Farhadi’s newest work is a layered treatise on the malleability of truth and the precariousness of individual agency.
