About Moving Minds Lab
Moving Minds Lab is an initiative by the Asian Film Archive where students will
investigate the dynamics of the local film industry under the mentorship of industry
professionals.
Young Critics & Young Jury Programme
In conjunction with Cineodeon 2008 and the Symposium on Singapore Cinema, the Archive
will be selecting 20 promising students to be mentored by film critics, scholars
and programmers. Modelled after the Ministry of Education's Creative Arts Programme
(CAP), these students will be chosen on the basis of their submitted essay and statement
of purpose. Half of these 20 students will form the Young Critics, and will be given
the opportunity to develop their ability to conduct scholarly research, write film
critiques and present their papers at the Symposium on Singapore Cinema. The other
half of the students will form the Young Jury, who will judge the selected films
for the inaugural Young Jury Awards.
Both sets of students will watch films from the Cineodeon screenings and meet regularly
to evaluate the cultural significance of the films in the context of Singapore Cinema
and the achievements of these film practitioners.
