This workshop is an initiation into the craft of telling stories through film. It shall examine the fundamental conventions in film plotting, narrative devices, and character development. This will also encompass a study of the characteristics of established genres, and classical and non-classical structures of storytelling. Raymond Lee currently teaches Writing for Film at the University of the Philippines Film Institute. As a film writer and producer, he penned some of the biggest blockbusters of Philippine cinema, including Anak (Child), Tanging Yaman (The Only Treasure), and Milan. He co-wrote and produced the internationally celebrated Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros), which has screened in over fifty film festivals worldwide and won major awards in Sundance, Berlin, Rotterdam, Montreal, Singapore, Spain and Turin.
