Educators' Workshop
Introduction to Singapore Cinema
|
|
This workshop will introduce educators to the history of Singapore cinema and its
industry spanning the last 100 years (1900s – 2000s). It will provide an insight
on how Singapore films are relevant in the teaching of prevalent historical, political,
socio-economic issues and the representation of the Singaporean identity. Using
footage from Singapore films and case studies of different genres of films, participants
will learn to decipher the perspective of the filmmakers and how their films have
been shaped by the country’s ever changing environment.
