Educators' Workshop
Introduction to Film Literacy
|
|
This course introduces an approach for educators to use films in the classroom
to decode moving images through an exploration of narrative, filmic techniques
and context. Participants will develop an understanding and appreciation for the
language and art of the film media. In addition, participants will also learn
how to provoke and answer critical questions about a film’s creation and its
purpose. Through the use of short films, particularly from the Singapore Shorts
Vol.2 DVD (www.asianfilmarchive.org/singapore_shorts2), educators will learn how
to effectively use our study guides to teach film through analysis of key
scenes. Participants will also learn how to clear copyrights for films used for
educational purposes.
