This retrospective pays a special tribute to the late Malaysian filmmaker Yasmin
Ahmad (1958–2009), who was a discovery of MoMA’s ongoing ContemporAsian film series
in 2008.

Charity Screening: Moon Over Malaya

World premiere of the newly restored film, Moon Over Malaya, the most acclaimed
of the “Nanyang Trilogy,” produced by the Kong Ngee Company in Singapore in 1957.
Starring Patrick Tse, Nam Hung and Patsy Kar Ling, the film was made in the golden
age of Singapore’s cinema heritage, a time when a locally produced film had a reach
and appeal beyond Singapore’s shores.
