Save our Singapore films.
The Asian Film Archive (AFA), set up by local film-maker Tan Bee Thiam in
January, has launched the Reel Emergency Project to preserve historically and
culturally significant Singapore films.
The Singapore-based archive is calling for the submission of short and
feature-length films, as well as footage, shot in Singapore or by Singaporean
filmmakers since the 1930s. The submitted materials will then be stored online
in a database open to the public.
In a press release yesterday, the AFA also announced that it will work together
with the National Archives of Singapore to preserve local and Asian films.
